Former President Donald Trump emailed his supporters an "official poll" about Biden's Cuba policies where both "yes" and "no" answers linked to his fundraising page.

Trump emailed supporters after Cubans staged mass protests on Sunday against the country's communist government, with crowds of protesters marching through streets to demand greater freedom and better economic conditions.

Trump's email, which was sent on Tuesday, asked: "Do you agree that Joe Biden MUST stand up to Cuba's Communist regime?"

Both "yes" and "no" answers in response to the poll linked to the same fundraising page for Trump's "Save America" political action committee, which he uses to fund his political activity, along with a 10-minute countdown timer.

Trump said at the beginning of the email that "I stand with the Cuban people 100% in their fight for freedom" and said that President Biden "MUST stand up to the Communist regime or history will remember" - though Biden's policies towards Cuba have, up until now, largely represented a continuation of Trump's policies.

While the connection between the poll and Trump's attempts to solicit funds from his supporters is not apparent, the former president's campaign has sought frequently to connect fundraising efforts with live political issues since he left the White House in January.

Earlier this month he also asked supporters to donate funds for a class-action lawsuit he is bringing against tech companies including Facebook and Google, which he accused of censoring conservatives.

He announced the lawsuit last week, and said in an email to his supporters that he was "SUING Facebook, Twitter, and Google for unconstitutionally censoring ME and other conservatives around the Nation."

Trump's fundraising tactics have come under scrutiny in recent months.

His campaign's use of automatic opt-ins has infuriated numerous supporters, who were duped into donating hundreds more dollars than they intended to the former president's campaign, the New York Times reported in April.

Trump is also one of the few politicians who has continued to use a tactic of promising to "triple match" or "quadruple match" donations, Insider's Dave Levinthal reported. That tactic was also until recently used by the campaigns of senior Democratic lawmakers including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
