Yash Chopra’s heir-apparent, Adira, is born to Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukherjee!

It’s a happy day in Bollywood. Rani Mukerji and beau Aditya Chopra, who got married in Italy last year in April, have been blessed with a baby girl.

Both Mukerji and Chopra belong to prestigious film families; while Mukerji belongs to the vast Mukherjee-Samarth clan, Chopra is the elder son of filmmaker Yash Chopra.

The news was first announced by Uday Chopra, the younger brother of Aditya, via Twitter.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who happens to be the best friend of Rani and first cousin of Aditya, also shared his happiness on Rani’s delivery on Twitter this morning.

Am an uncle to a beautiful baby girl today!!!!! @udaychopra !!! Rani and Adi had a baby girl!!

In an official statement to the press, Rani Mukherji expressed her gratitude to her well-wishers.

"I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans. Today life has given us God's greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives," the statement read.

Did you notice? Their daughter is called Adira, which clearly is a portmanteau of her parents’ names, Aditya and Rani.

We can’t wait to see the pictures of the baby girl, who has art in her genes.
