Some Florida hotels are reducing their usual rates so that evacuees sheltering from Hurricane Ian have a safe place to stay.

The Category 4 hurricane is due to hit the state on Wednesday morning, with forecasters warning of up to 24 inches of rain and potential tornado risks.

Rosen Hotels & Resorts announced it was offering "distress rates" across some of its properties. The rates have been offered in Florida before when a storm or hurricane has posed a risk to residents.

The chain is also waiving pet fees for those who need to evacuate from their homes.

Rosen hotel officials said that the rates will be offered as long as necessary to those who are displaced by the storm, per Fox 35.

The company said in a statement shared on Twitter that it was putting putting "people over profit in times of need."

The discounted distress rates, which do not include tax, are $69 a night for Rosen Inn International, Rosen Inn Closest to Universal, Rosen Inn Pointe Orlando, and Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista.

Rosen Plaza will charge $99 per night, Rosen Centre will cost $109 per night, and Rosen Shingle Creek will charge $119 per night.

Walt Disney World and Universal are closing all Florida parks for 2 days as Hurricane Ian approaches the state. Disney is asking its hotel guests in Florida to shelter in place while the storm hits.
