Akash Ambani’s MI Emirates name squad for UAE’s inaugural ILT20 — Here are the team members

Mumbai Indians (MI) Emirates today announced its team for the inaugural season of UAE’s International League T20. The squad will be based in Abu Dhabi, and will include a mix of current, past and some new MI players.

Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran and Trent Boult will be joining the blue and gold army.

“I am delighted with our dynamic group of 14 players that will be part of our #Onefamily and represent ‘MI Emirates’. We are glad to have one of our key pillars, Kieron Pollard, continue with MI Emirates,” Akash M Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio said in a statement.

“MI is known to strike a balance between experience and investing in young talent to unlock their true potential which will help us play the MI way,” he added.

Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, Andre Fletcher, Imran Tahir, Samit Patel, Will Smeed, Jordan Thompson, Najibullah Zadran, Zahir Khan, Fazalhaq Farooqui, Bradley Wheal and Bas De Leede.

Earlier this week, MI announced the name and identity of ‘MI Emirates’ or phonetically “MY Emirates”, a team dedicated to the fans across the Emirates geographies.

On August 8, UAE’s International League T20, the ILT20, announced that several top cricketers had signed-on to participate in the inaugural event.

Reliance Industries, Kolkata Knight Riders, Capri Global, GMR, Lancer Capital and Adani Sportsline are the franchise owners in the League.

The tournament will be held in January in 2023 and will be played in a 34-match format across the UAE’s cricket facilities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
