Even though business school is a steep investment, the payoff could mean a six-figure salary after graduation.

This is true for graduates of the Yale School of Management. Yale's latest graduating class had base salaries mostly in the six figures, with the majority of graduates pursuing careers in consulting or finance.

MBA students at Yale paid on average $100,274 for the 2018-2019 school year, but starting base salaries from Yale's employment report indicate that graduates are well compensated.

Students at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and the Wharton School of Business paid similar amounts for their educations, according to previous Business Insider coverage.

Yale graduates who took jobs in the legal field made the most money, yielding a median base salary of $190,000, although only 1.8% of students reported accepting offers in that industry.
