Uber is developing a new feature allowing people to book cabs via WhatsApp. WhatsApp is among the most popular messaging platforms with a user-friendly interface that can make booking rides effortless for many. Earlier in December 2021, this feature was introduced and tested in Lucknow.

The feature will be available from this week; initially, only the Delhi/NCR residents will have access to it. People can book a ride either from the Uber application or through an official Uber chatbot on WhatsApp. The chatbot will support both English and Hindi languages to make it suitable for people of different regions.

Uber said, "We recognise that to keep expanding access to our services, we need to meet users where they are. And in India, that means WhatsApp, one of India’s most popular chat apps."

  • After this, you will be asked to write the drop location and send you the location options to choose from per your requirement.
  • The chatbot will ask for an OTP sent to your number to confirm that it’s you.
  • After verifying the OTP, you will be given ride options to select.
(This feature is applicable for all kinds of rides like cars, autos, and bikes.)
  • Then you will be given the option to edit details, cancel or confirm the ride.

With no compromise on safety features and a person's riding experience, this new feature can be an easy way to book rides with no additional app required.
