1. The US denied that $400 million in cash paid to Iran soon after the release of five Americans detained by Tehran was ransom as some Republicans have charged. The funds were part of a trust fund Iran used before its 1979 Islamic Revolution to buy U.S. military equipment.
2. One person was killed and five others were injured in a knife attack in central London. Scotland Yard counterterrorism command was investigating the stabbings in the city's Russell Square.
3. Revenues from tech mergers and acquisitions have hit their highest point since the height of the dot-com bubble. Global tech M&A revenue totals $1.9 billion this year to date.
4. A Brazil Senate committee will vote Thursday whether to recommend removing elected president Dilma Rousseff from office. The committee is expected to vote overwhelmingly in favor of Rousseff's ejection on charges that she broke budget laws.

9. One of the US' biggest gunmakers spent its earnings call bashing Hillary Clinton, and said it plans to donate millions of dollars to the National Rifle Association.
10. The International Olympic Committee announced that six sports will be added to the docket at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. The IOC voted to include baseball, softball, surfing, skateboarding, karate, and sport climbing.
