They say technology will phase out human jobs, but what about the non-human ones? Well, one video shows how drones may put a few dogs out of work.Declan Brennan, an Irish farmer, posted a video a few days ago the autonomous flying device being used to herd sheep. CNET spotted the footage on YouTube (via Fox News). The farmer used his Yuneec Q500 drone and strapped a camera onto it to show how useful it scares sheep into moving. According to the video, the device is called "SHEP the Worlds first Drone Sheepdog." Paul Brennan via YouTubeThe video shows moving aerial footage of sheep running en masse in fear of the flying object pursuing them. Fittingly, the Benny Hill soundtrack plays in the background. Drones have been sought after as a new technology to take help disrupt legacy industries. Over the last few years various farming applications have been posited. This is just one, perhaps more humorous, use of drones in the field. According to Brennan's brother Paul, he does not use the drone everyday to herd the animals. All the same, "it is a very feasible idea," he told CNET.While US drone use is still being debated by the FAA, we'll likely see more examples like this in the near future.
