Trump's approval rating just reached its highest point in a year

• President Donald Trump's approval rating is the highest it's been in a year.
• FiveThirtyEight's approval tracker found he's sitting at 42.4%.
• The last time that many Americans approved of the job he's doing was May 4, 2017.

President Donald Trump's job approval just hit its highest level of support since last May.

On Monday, Trump had a 42.4% approval rating, and a 52% disapproval rating, according to FiveThirtyEight's polling tracker.

Meanwhile, the RealClearPolitics average found Trump's current approval rating is 43.1%, slightly down from a recent high of 44.4% on May 5.

Trump's approval ratings have been on the rise recently after he helped broker diplomacy with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom he is set to meet for a historic summit June 12.

Though the percentage on Monday was a high for Trump, it's low compared to former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush's approval ratings at the same time in their administrations, which sat at 49.4% and 70.3%, respectively.

Trump's all-time high, according to FiveThirtyEight, was 47.8% approval, five days after he took office in 2017. It's stayed in the high 30s and low 40s since then.
