Facebook's Messenger app is about to get a lot better
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg just announced Messenger Platform - which means developers will be able to build more functionality directly into the Messenger app.
This means it'll be easier to insert different types of content directly into Facebook messages.

But it's not just about communicating with your friends. Facebook wants you to be able to reach different services through its messenger app too. So, for example, you'd be able to track packages from directly within the app, too. This means you won't have to leave the app to perform a lot of different tasks.
Here's how it works: You'd tap three dots toward the top of the screen to see which apps you can use within Facebook Messenger. You can install apps directly from within Messenger too.

In the demo, we see Giphy being installed into the Messenger app.

Once you choose the right GIF, you're taken directly back to your conversation.

Another app that works with Messenger lets you customize fonts and create messages that move.
ESPN is partnering with Facebook, too, so you can find sports clips easily and embed them into a message.
