If you remember, there were talks of telecom companies paying subscribers one rupee each for every call drop up to thrice a day. However, telecom companies say that they are still waiting for court directions before rolling out the compensation. Nonetheless, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has written letters to telecom operators, reminding them to compensate subscribers for dropped calls from January 1."It is expected that you would have taken all necessary steps to implement provisions of the regulations," stated the letter as per ET. TRAI opines that since there was no stay on its decision, the telcos should comply with it.
The next date of hearing is scheduled for January 6 after which TRAI would take coercive actions against defaulters.
