Last December, Apple hired Tor Myhren from Grey Worldwide to be its VP of marketing communications.

It's a senior role, reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook, and on Monday, Apple added Myhren as a notable vice president on the senior leadership page on its website.

Myhren is generally in charge of Apple's visuals and brand. He signs off on advertising like billboards, TV ads, web design, packaging, and other marketing communications. He replaced Hiroki Asai, an 18-year Apple veteran who retired last year and was known as one of the executives most in tune with what former CEO Steve Jobs liked and disliked.

From Apple's press release announcing his hire:

Tor will be responsible for Apple's advertising efforts and will lead an award-winning team that spans a broad range of creative disciplines from video, motion graphics and interactive web design to packaging and retail store displays.

At Grey, Myhren tripled the size of its flagship New York office to 1,000 staff members and was the creative mastermind behind the E*Trade talking baby.

Apple is in the process of moving much of its advertising out of longtime partner Media Arts Lab into an internal "marcom" division. Recently, Apple produced a hit ad starring Taylor Swift in-house, for example.

Myhren looks sharp in his official PR bio headshot wearing a subtle camouflage sweater over a shirt and tie. He's the only executive on Apple's senior leadership page who is wearing a tie in his headshot.

Here's Apple's official bio:

Tor Myhren is Apple's vice president of Marketing Communications, reporting to CEO Tim Cook.

Tor is a former journalist and award-winning documentary filmmaker. He holds a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Occidental College.
