This year, Google is expected to announce two new phones: one with a giant 5.7-inch screen and another with a smaller 5.2-inch display. The phones will be made by LG and Huawei, according to the report.
There's also a huge chance that Google will take this opportunity to tell us more about the next version of Android, called Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Google gave us a preview of this new software at its I/O developers conference back in May, but it usually waits until the fall to show off the final product and tell us when the software will ship.
Google traditionally partners with other companies to make the Nexus phones and uses devices to show off the latest improvements and changes coming in the next version of Android. Based on what we know so far, the biggest enhancement coming to Android seems to be Google Now on Tap- a more powerful and smarter version of Google's virtual assistant.
This will also be Google's first major event since it announced its major corporate restructuring. Google is slated to become a subset of Alphabet, a broader holding company led by Larry Page that oversees some of the company's more far-reaching ambitions that don't fall in line with Google's core business such as its moonshots. That puts Sundar Pichai in charge of Google as its CEO.
We likely won't see many of these changes reflected in Google's next big event - Pichai has been a regular figure at Google's events in recent years as it is. But this will be the first major event under a Google that is officially Pichai's baby.
