Imagine gulping down fire, and instead of burning your throat, it leaves a cool sensation in your mouth. What more, you don’t have to be a Circus acrobat or tame a Dragon for that. Just shell out 40-50 bucks, and you’re good to go.

Move aside Ice and Chocolate Paan, my new favorite is the Fire Paan. You read it right. That’s how you eat fire in style.

It’s a mix of local herbs like cloves, betel nuts, cardamom among other ingredients, and it comes wrapped in a betel leaf. It’s basically the same, just that the Paan is set on fire before putting it in your mouth.

Here’s how I did it:

The Secret:

If you’re a faint heart, forget it. If you’re not, welcome to the Club.

The truth is, the fire lasts for a mere one to two seconds. It’s extinguished the moment it’s put inside your mouth, and the cloves and ice do the cooling. There is no burning sensation whatsoever.

It’s damn scary, and that’s the fun of it.

Health Benefits:
Gulping fire has its own share of health benefits. You can recover from sore throat. Noow you know how to tackle Delhi winters.

The burning cloves are not just tasty, but they also work as Ayurvedic Medicine.

Where to Head:
Several Paan Stalls in CP (Connaught Place for Non-Delhiites) serve Fire Paan. I had it at Ganesh Paan Shop at Brahmaputra Market in Noida Sector 29.

Pocket Pinch:
Rs. 40-50.

That's a bang for the buck, given you get a pretty cool Facebook Timeline Cover and video to brag about.

P.S: Don't try this at home, and that's not me in the cover picture. This the closest you can get to doing that without any Circus training.
