It looks like Apple won't unveil a new Apple TV next week
Instead, the report says the event will focus on new tools for Apple Watch developers to create more powerful apps, new features for iOS and Mac, and a new music streaming service.
Apple had initially planned to make the new Apple TV a big part of the event, but plans were postponed because the device wasn't ready for prime time yet, according to Chen.
The new streaming TV box was expected to have an improved remote with haptic feedback and a new hardware design as well. Previous rumors suggested Apple may be working on its own dedicated App Store for the Apple TV too.
It sounds like Apple will spend the majority of next week's event talking about how apps for the Apple Watch will get a lot better. At Re/code's Code conference last month, Apple's senior vice president of operations Jeff Williams said developers will soon be able to use Apple's native code in their apps, meaning they'll work with the sensors inside the watch too rather than just communicating with your phone.
The Apple TV is long overdue for an update, but there's a chance we'll see it debut in the fall. Apple usually holds two events in the autumn: one in September to unveil the new iPhone, and another in October to announce its new iPads.
