Sridevi came back to the celluloid after a break of 15 years, but she certainly remembered the acting prowess with which the actress ruled hearts of millions of Indians when she was at the peak of her career. It was because of this acting that she once again stole our hearts as Shashi, who overcomes her fear of speaking English and delivers a powerful speech in front of her friends and family. Not to forget, the scene where she gives her husband an extra laddoo to ensure him of her unchanged love made us all go awww.

Three typical Bollywood romcoms rolled into one, this movie was a milestone in the career of Ranbir Kapoor, and the foundation of his relationship with Deepika Padukone. Their real-life chemistry was what made the last few scenes of the movie special, when Raj and Gayatri meet after six months and realise the love that they have for each other. Both Deepika and Ranbir did justice to their roles but it was the Sunil Patel’s cinematography and Siddharth Anand’s direction that left us wanting for more scenes with the Sydney airport in the background.

The first movie of Bollywood’s Baba Ranveer Singh was an out-and-out entertainer, and saying that the ending was the best part of the movie would be a bit of an injustice. However, when we saw the adorable Shruti and Bittoo, who were at loggerheads in the latter part of the movie and confess their love after Bittoo’s genuine definition of love, we couldn’t help but pray that these two got together in real life as well, chai, chowmein aur bread pakore ki kasam.

A genius attempt at storytelling by director Imtiaz Ali, the ending of this movie was so perfect that it just had to be included in this list. The dialogues, the direction and especially the bang-on expressions by Deepika Padukone on seeing the love of her life in front of her after months of waiting have made this scene one of the most memorable scenes in recent Bollywood movies.

Another marvel by Imtiaz Ali, Highway made everyone sit up and take notice of Alia Bhatt. The last scene of this movie shows Veera (played by Alia) confronting her uncle who molested her as a child and questioning her mother’s silence on the same. The scene was brilliantly written, performed and enacted, proving how teamwork can do wonders in a part of act that had mighty chances of being ruined because of the sensitivity involved.

And to top the list, we have a movie that had a jaw-dropping ending. As if the plot of the movie and the performances by veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher wasn’t enough, we witnessed a confrontation at the end which refurbished everything we had thought about the movie, and made us wonder the details that we might have missed that could have hinted at the unexpected ending.
