- Shakyla Hill recorded a rare quadruple-double on Wednesday night, with a final stat sheet that included 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals.
- It's an accomplishment that has only been achieved three times previously in Division I women's basketball.
- Hill received praised from around the sporting world for her feat, including shout outs from "SportsCenter" and the WNBA.
Shakyla Hill of Grambling State University put her name in the record books on Wednesday night, becoming just the fourth woman in NCAA Division I women's basketball history to record a quadruple-double.
With 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals on the night, Hill's stellar all-around performance helped lead Grambling State to a 93-71 victory over Alabama State. Hill completed the impressive feat on one of the last plays of the game, finding teammate Monisha Neal for a three-pointer that would seal the win and secure Hill's 10th assist on the night.
The feat had not been accomplished since 1993, and got on "SportsCenter" for her accomplishment.
After the game, coach Freddie Murray praised Hill for her team-first play, saying "She is very unselfish. She had to do a lot more last year, because we didn't have a lot of pieces. Now she is surrounded by players who feed off what she gives us. To get a quadruple-double is just a testament to the hard work she puts in."
Hill was understandably proud of her accomplishment, sharing praise through social media throughout the day, which included a shout out from the WNBA.
Grambling State is 5-8 overall but a strong 2-0 in conference play at the start of their SWAC schedule. If they can keep that up, there's a good chance basketball fans will get to see even more of Hill's feats as March Madness rolls around.
