BANKING SECTOR: Lenders were the top losers in trade on Wednesday after Axis Bank reported a higher-than-anticipated rise in its non-performing assets during the second quarter. Axis Bank plunged 6.8 percent to 486 rupees. ICICI Bank lost 4.1 percent to 272.50 rupees and Yes Bank was down 22.50 rupees at 730 rupees.BHARAT BIJLEE LTD.: The electrical engineering giant rose 7.8 percent to 632 rupees after it swung to a second quarter net profit of 67 lakh rupees compared with a net loss of 10 crore rupees in the year ago quarter.
DEEPAK NITRITE LTD.: The chemicals supplier gained 7.7 percent to 68 rupees after it bagged a sizeable contract to supplier a chemical intermediate to Bayer Crop Science.
MASTEK LTD.: The software services provider rose 1 percent to 155.30 rupees after it bagged a multi-year contract to build a credit guarantee platform for National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company.
KIRLOSKAR BROTHERS LTD.: The centrifugal pumps maker fell 3.1 percent to 171.50 rupees after reporting second quarter earnings. Quarterly loss rose to 2.2 crore rupees versus 0.6 crore rupees in the year earlier quarter.
