Maha:Enthusiastic response to PM's call from people, Bollywood

Mumbai, Apr 5 () People from across Maharashtraresponded enthusiastically to Prime Minister Narendra Modi'sappeal to defeat coronavirus by switching off lights in theirpremises for nine minutes at 9 pm on Sunday amid the nationallockdown.

People lit landles, diyas and flashed lights of theirmobile phones by standing in balconies of their houses.

Prominent personalities such as NCP chief SharadPawar, family of renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar, actorAmitabh Bachchan as well asseveral oher actors andcelebrities too responded to the PM's call.

Meanwhile, some youths took out bike rallies inlocalities like Bandra, Juhu and Andheri flashing theirheadlights.

Major cities such as Pune, which is the major IT hubin the state, as well as Aurangabad, Nashik, Nagpur also sawenthusiastic response from people.

The Prime Minister on Friday urged people to switchoff the lights at their homes and light up lamps, candles ormobile phone torches for nine minutes at 9 pm on April 5 todisplay the country's "collective resolve" to defeatcoronavirus. NDNSK NSK
