Meghalaya relaxes lockdown norms, allows some activities from Friday
Shillong, Apr 23 () The Meghalaya government onThursday issued a notification allowing opening of shops andservices dealing in essential items and resumption offunctioning of several self-employed persons and industrialunits from Friday, though the lockdown will continue to beimposed.

Meghalaya Chief Secretary MS Rao issued a notificationsaying shops, courier services, e-commerce platforms dealingin essential services and common service centres are permittedto open in the state with effect from Friday.

However, the state capital and Mylliem block of EastKhasi Hills district are exempted from this relaxation.

Services provided by self-employed persons such aselectrician, plumbers, motor mechanics, and carpenters andshops for repair of trucks on highways, hardware storesselling construction materials including transportation of thesame and electrical shops are also allowed to operate, Raosaid in a notification.

The order also stated that food processing industries,rice mills and brick kilns in rural areas are allowed tofunction.

All agriculture and allied sectors activities are alsopermitted from Friday, it said

Transportation of all agricultural products subject totransit point and route specified by respective DeputyCommissioners considering prevailing COVID-19 situation isallowed and veterinary hospitals, dispensaries, clinics, saleand supply of medicine and vaccines are permitted to operate.

MNREGA works are allowed with strict implementation ofsocial distancing and face mask and priority is to be given toirrigation and water conservation works. JOPNN NN
