Elon Musk dismissed former President Donald Trump's claim that the Tesla CEO once said he voted for him, as the billionaires traded online barbs this week.

Musk said in May he had "overwhelmingly" voted for Democrats throughout his life, going as far as to say he may never have voted for a Republican.

Trump responded to the claim on Saturday during a rally in Anchorage, Alaska, accusing Musk of lying to him about who he voted for: "He told me he voted for me. So he's another bullshit artist."

Days later, Musk disputed the former president. In response to a tweet that said "Donald Trump: Elon Musk Told Me He Voted for Me" along with a video of Trump's comments, Musk wrote: "Not true."

Trump's office did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Though Musk has criticized President Joe Biden and said he plans to vote for Republicans in the midterms, he's made clear he is not a big fan of Trump.

The pair have been caught up in an online feud that started with Trump's comments at the Alaska rally.

Musk responded in a tweet, writing: "I don't hate the man, but it's time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset." He also said Trump was "too much drama" and that he thinks the "legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69." Trump is 76.

Trump then posted a photo on Truth Social of him and Musk in the oval office and criticized Musk's "electric cars that don't drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, [and] rocketships to nowhere."

Musk has also said he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president over Trump. DeSantis, though frequently discussed as a potential 2024 candidate, has not said he plans to run.
