What happened today:

We have a deal. President Joe Biden threw his support behind a $1 trillion infrastructure deal negotiated by a Senate group of Republicans and Democrats. It's a major step towards Biden's goal of working with the GOP. The framework includes funding for roads and bridges but represents about 1/4 of Biden's original proposal.

Giuliani gets suspended. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been suspended from practicing law in the state of New York pending further review. A ruling said there was "uncontroverted evidence" that Giuliani "communicated demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large" in connection with former President Donald Trump's failed attempts to overturn the 2020 election results.

"If I suicide myself, I didn't. I was whackd." A tweet by antivirus software mogul John McAfee in 2019, two years before his death by suicide, said he would not kill himself. McAfee died on Wednesday in Barcelona, Spain, shortly after a court ruled he could be extradited to the US on tax evasion charges.

Israel battles the Delta variant. As Israel faces a surge in cases driven by the Delta coronavirus variant, its health officials suggested that as many as half of new cases were among people who'd been vaccinated. Although infections among vaccinated people have alarmed Israelis, the infections appear to be less severe than they are in unvaccinated people.

A gossip blogger's apology. In the wake of Britney Spears' chilling testimony about her conservatorship, gossip blogger Perez Hilton said he regrets mocking the singer. He told Sky News, "I absolutely apologize and carry deep shame and regret." Spears had testified that she had been "traumatized" and compared her life under the conservatorship to sex trafficking.
