Exactly a year after promising to deliver his speech in Hindi, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Rajan was speaking at a prize distribution ceremony of '
Rajan, who has been abroad for the most of his life, had last year promised to speak in Hindi at the next Rajbhasha function.
"Hindi and other languages in the country are like a bridge between the banker and the customer. This is the reason private banks are also using Hindi, although the Rajbhasha policy is not applicable to them," he said in Hindi.
