Aug 4, 2014, 14:43 IST
For those in the tech arena this will be remembered as the day when popular tech evangelist and ex-tech writer, Evan Blass aka @evleaks decided to call it quits from his usual routine of dishing out exclusive product visuals just before the official announcement is set to be made.

He’s given you the Apple iPhone’s, the Samsung Galaxy’s and even the Nokia Lumia’s among others well before the products seeing the light of the day but now, he bids adieu to one of the most anticipated movements that happens after regular intervals. Blass is a former tech writer with popular publications like Engadget and PocketNow and started his stint with twitter handle called @evleaks in a bid to enthrall and unravel the best of upcoming devices with his signature spoiler-alert style leaks via Twitter.

What strikes us the most is how Blass justifies the reason to retire from this unique job profile and blames the social-networking phenomena, Twitter as the reason for his misgivings. “Turns out, Twitter feeds are not that viable in terms of monetization for you and this has more or less made me decide to look at other avenues as source of livelihood.”

One thing is for sure that brands like Apple, Samsung, BlackBerry and HTC among others will breathe a sigh of relief after seeing the back of Blass, once and for all. Talking about the brands, Blass talks up his favorite leaks being that of HTC M8 Prime that was supposedly in the works and featured 3D rendering support. “For me HTC One (M8) Prime with its 3D rendering support was one for the collector’s item. The device may not make it to the consumer, ever but the feeling of revealing the device to one and all gives me the sense of being part of the industry.”

The fact that Twitter’s lack of ability to help mint money has led to the demise of one our favorite Twitter member, brings is the dilemma to understand its stance and position among its peers. So long @evleaks.
