RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan can be called a 'cheerleader for the markets'. His several efforts to contain inflation and multiple rate cuts are some of the biggest draws of the Indian financial markets in 2015. While Rajan's term ends on September 3, 2016, whether he gets re-elected or not will be one of the biggest draws this New Year.

The RBI Governor was in the media for all the right reasons, and one-liners like “I am Raghuram Rajan and I do what I do" ensured he became a hot favorite in the media. As the year end draws to the close, the RBI has already asked banks to clean their balance sheets and compete with financial markets.

Rajan also kick-started the era of differentiated banking. Rajan gave out approvals to 11 payments banks and 10 small finance banks. As PM Modi’s 'Making in India' projects start to catch up in 2016, it’ll be interesting to note what’s coming.
