The Kansas City Chiefs accidentally sent equipment to Newark, New Jersey, instead of Massachusetts for their big Week 14 game against the New England Patriots, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

According to Schefter, the container holding the bags was not unloaded from the plane and then was sent to New Jersey. The bags were for 35 players and included shoulder pads, helmets, and footballs, according to Schefter.

chefter reported that the mistake was the Chiefs' fault, not the Patriots or NFL's.

Schefter reported that the equipment was being hurried to Foxborough, Massachusetts, and is expected to arrive between 3-3:30 P.M. ET. The game tips off at 4:30.

According to Schefter, if the equipment hadn't arrived on time, the Chiefs would be forced to forfeit the game. The game is a highly anticipated rematch of last year's AFC Championship and will help serve as measuring sticks for both teams in their quest to win the AFC.

The situation is unusual, with one source telling Schefter: "I never heard that before."
