The earlier you fly, the less likely you are to experience delays.

Unfortunately, flight delays are as unavoidable as they are unpredictable. While annoying enough at the best of times, they can have a disastrous domino effect for anyone with connecting flights.

Travelzoo used statistics from the Bureau of Transportation to determine what time of day is the best for avoiding flight delays.

They found that early flights tend to be the most on-time: Flights scheduled between 6am and 10am generally have delays under 10 minutes.

Flight delays tend to increase later in the day, peaking at almost 20 minute-delays around 6pm, after which they taper off slightly.

Saturday flights are said to be less delayed, with Fridays having the highest chances of delayed flights - around 30% of Friday flights depart behind schedule.
