In a longer story about the jumbo-sized iPad Pro and how it's catching on among creatives and professionals, Brian X. Chen writes:

"Apple also plans to introduce another new iPad model alongside a smaller iPhone in an event this month, according to a person briefed on the devices, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the plans were confidential."

Previous reports from 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman have indicated that Apple is planning an event later this month where it will launch:

  1. The iPhone SE, or "special edition," which is a smaller iPhone. It's been described as the internal components and power of the iPhone 6S in an iPhone 5 body.
  2. A new 9.7-inch iPad, the same size as the current iPad Air 2. However, Gurman indicates he believes it will be fit into the iPad Pro line, which is Apple's line of professionally-oriented tablets.
  3. New Apple Watch accessories and software.

The event is expected to take place on March 21, according to Recode and BuzzFeed. Business Insider will be covering everything Apple reveals as it happens.
