The Texas Longhorns are dominating high school football recruiting and appear set to return to the top
Tom Herman's first season as head coach of the University of Texas football team finished its regular season with a ho-hum 6-6 record. But his record has been much stronger on the recruiting trail and it looks like it is only a matter of time before Texas is back among the best programs in the country.
Even though schools and high school recruits are still in the early signing period, over 230 of ESPN's top 300 high school football players have either signed or committed to a college coach and his program. Of those, no school has landed more ESPN 300 recruits so far than Herman and the Longhorns, with 17, and eight of those among the top 100.
Georgia and Ohio State lead the way with ten recruits each among the top 100. Clemson has also been impressive early on with seven recruits among the top 100, including three of the top five recruits in the country.
