The holidays are the perfect excuse to take a trip back home.

But when home is a flight away, it can sometimes be too time consuming and expensive to travel for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Hipmunk compared average flight prices at Thanksgiving and Christmas of last year to 50 major US cities in order to see which holiday offers lower flight prices.

Their study found that Thanksgiving is generally the cheaper time to fly. See below for the full results.
