A ton of tech news hit last night just as everyone was going home from work. Let's catch up.

  1. Several reports say Satya Nadella will be Microsoft's next CEO. Microsoft should formally make the announcement soon. There's also a chance Bill Gates will step down as Microsoft chairman.
  2. Box, a cloud storage enterprise startup, reportedly filed for an IPO. It's a secret IPO filing, which is now allowed under the Jobs Act.
  3. Amazon had record sales for the holiday quarter, but missed on EPS. The stock tanked in after-hours trading.
  4. Google also had a slight miss on earnings.
  5. Zynga fired 15% of its workforce.
  6. Yahoo bought a startup that makes a virtual assistant called Donna. But it's going to shut the app down.
  7. Google's first stock split will happen April 2.

  9. Android powered 79% of the 1 billion smartphones shipped in 2013.
