Car dealerships across the country are seeing a steady drop in footfalls. Roadside camps and promotional stalls aren’t helping much and are expensive. Most dealers have realized that what they are missing out is an online presence — which is where most of prospective customers go looking for the best deals on cars. They are refurbishing it and adding new features to make it attractive.

In order to sell a car dealers have to advertise, send emails and make cold calls. Once they get an enquiry, they would need to organise a test drive. After price negotiations, financing and insurance can he close a deal. That, however, has changed with the online medium.

Startups like MyNewCar may have just got the timing right, for there is a new breed of car buyers emerging, who have an 'online first' strategy to firm up their purchase decision.

Accenture recently surveyed 10,000 consumers across eight countries including India about their views on buying cars online. Over 84% said they could close their purchase online.
