Five things that are bound to happen once Zomato Order starts delivering from every restaurant

On September 1, Zomato founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal made everyone’s day by making a Twitter announcement that none of us could have imagined even in our wildest dreams.

Goyal tweeted about Zomato Order’s latest plan of action- making the entire restaurant industry available for home delivery, including restaurants that don’t otherwise deliver. To help itself in this mammoth task, Zomato tied up with three hyperlocal delivery services, Delhivery, Grab and Pickingo to take care of the logistics.

To say the least, this is a gigantic win for restaurants. This arrangement will not only help them fetch a boost in sales, but also save themselves the trouble of investing in delivery systems, as Zomato along with its logistics partners would be in charge of the deliveries. The only added responsibility on restaurants’, especially the ones who don’t deliver, will be to pack the food, which frankly is a small price to pay.

From the overtly enthusiastic and earth-shattering responses (including mine) which Goyal received on the social networking sites post his announcement was testament of the fact that for anyone who’s almost always lazy and hungry and has access to the Internet, this news is as great as back to back Shahrukh Khan releases.

As we at Business Insider are also part of the herd and hence, can relate to the myriad of emotions you’re going through while processing this information. So, we thought its best we draw up a list of five things that are bound to happen with Zomato deciding to ensure home delivery from every single restaurant is at arm’s reach.



1. No restaurant is ‘far away’ anymore
Eating out plans will not be limited by geographical boundaries any longer! Thanks to Zomato’s thoughtfulness, it will hardly matter if we live in Noida or near Connaught Place. If we’re craving for Chicken Spaghetti in Piri Piri sauce from The Big Chill Café, the food gods at Zomato will ensure we can have what we want. That’s right. Plus, think about all the money, effort and time saved in travelling! Hallelujah!



2. No human interaction EVER
Let’s face it, human interactions suck, especially when we’re out at a restaurant to meet the love of our life- food.
Small talk regarding anything and everything we’re not even remotely interested in such as the weather, boss woes, boyfriend trouble and the worst of it all- having to share food out of courtesy, can now be history!
The only human interaction we'll now have are with the godsend delivery guy who comes with our order and when we stare lovingly at our food wanting to utter those three words. Peace, redefined!



3. Wardrobe gets a PJ makeover
As Zomato will guarantee that you never have to step out of your house for food again, what is the point in wasting money in buying expensive shiny clothes? PJ’s will be our new best friend and all the money saved on clothes can go towards the ‘Feed Me’ fund. Because, you know food is forever.



4. Exercise? More like, extra fries
So, here’s the plan. We’ll be so busy ordering food everyday from different restaurants that there would no time left to ponder about things that should have no place in one’s life like gymming, eating healthy food and getting fit. (Ugh)
When your health-conscious friends are busy waking up early in the morning for a jog and yoga followed by a bowl of salad, you’d be curled up in bed dreaming about what meal to have next. Guess we know whose life is better now. Another round of fries please!



5. Goodbye, taxes!
I love eating out as much as people seem to like cat videos, but the last thing you need after a glorious meal is to see your bill double up due to the variety of taxes added next to it. It’s no secret that you could order another dish for the same amount of taxes charged on your bill. But, the good news is, it’s time to bid goodbye to those and say hello to Zomato’s home-delivery. Suddenly our wallets will feel heavier and that’ll be a thing to rejoice!

Last but the not the least, staying in at home instead of going on an uncomfortable, sweaty night out with people you should best avoid, will finally be an accepted norm.
