Super Bowl weekend is right around the corner, and while most of us will probably be watching the big game, those who aren't that into football might want to consider hitting the mountains.

According to Liftopia, a site that allows advance bookings of lift tickets and mountain activities, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the best days of the year to hit the slopes. Since about one-third of the US population is expected to be watching the game that day, most mountains will have smaller crowds (aka shorter lift lines) and lift ticket deals to go along with it.

The website is seeing savings of up to 50% on lift tickets for that weekend.

The graphic below shows the discounts offered on Sundays before and after Super Bowl weekend, as well as on the day of the game (based on Liftopia's bookings).

The data shows that February 7, 2016 (Super Bowl Sunday), is seeing the highest discounts at the moment.

"On Super Bowl Sunday, resorts historically see half the crowds compared to other peak-season Sundays, particularly in markets where teams are playing," said Evan Reece, co-founder and CEO of Liftopia.

"This makes it one of the best days of the year to spend some time on the mountain with friends enjoying the snow and fresh air."

The best part is, you can get a few runs in and still catch the game, all in one day.
