Ravi Shankar Prasad retains all his ministries in Modi 2.0 government

  • Ravi Shankar Prasad has returned to the Modi’s Cabinet of ministers.
  • Prasad has retained all the ministries he had – Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Ravi Shankar Prasad returns as a Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet. Prasad who took oath in the 9th position during the swearing-in ceremony held at the national capital, has been given all his previous ministries once again.

In the first term of the Modi government, Prasad held the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology and the Minister of Law and Justice from 2016-2019. From 2014-2016, Prasad was the Minister of Communications.

However, Prasad was not new to the ministerial position in 2014. During the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, he held the positions – Minister of State in the Ministry of Coal and Mines, Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice and Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Prasad, who earlier held the ministerial positions from his Rajya Sabha MP seat, will this time represent Patna Sahib constituency in the Lok Sabha. This Lok Sabha elections 2019 was Prasad’s debut in the elections for the lower house of the parliament. Interestingly, even with his debut, Prasad defeated Bollywood actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha by 2.84 lakh votes. Sinha had got a ticket from the Congress party.
