Preparation of the electoral rolls

The EC has directed the election machinery at the National Capital Territory of Delhi to make sure that the special summary revision of the electoral rolls are completed in an inclusive and time-bound manner. January 1, 2020 has been declared by the EC as the qualifying date so that all the eligible but unenrolled citizens within the jurisdiction of the NCT of Delhi are registered duly in the electoral rolls. The news from the EC says exclusive efforts were spared to find out the critical gaps in the electoral rolls. The commission also says targeted SVEEP activities were implemented to address the same.

The final inclusion of eligible voters is done

In order to provide an additional opportunity to the eligible persons to get their names registered in the electoral roll and to see that they are not deprived of the chance to vote in the upcoming elections, the EC has taken steps that will also improve the health of the electoral roll. In these lines, the EC has ordered for the special summary revision of the photo electoral rolls with respect to January 1, 2020 as qualifying date in Union Territory of NCT of Delhi. The Election Commission has published the final electoral roll for the upcoming general elections in Delhi on January 6, 2020.
