According to a survey ‘Alternativism’ by Mahindra Group, 80% of Indians are aware about the impact of plastic and waste management on climate. But they fail to act due to lack of alternatives.
As many as 88% of respondents think eco-friendly alternatives are either ineffective or pricey. Mahindra Group surveyed over 2,000 respondents between the age 25-55 from Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
Success in finding alternative to plastic
There is a large gap between awareness about climate change and finding sustainable substitutes. While most Indians are aware, only 27% of the Indian always find an alternative to plastic.

Want employers to offer alternative solutions
As many as 89% of respondents said they will be able to contribute actively towards climate change if their employers offered them alternative solutions. And 70% Indians want their company “to act on water conservation using aerators, with rainwater harnessing and recycling,'' said the report.
