  • A Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) coach was ejected from a game on Wednesday after appearing to grab a fan by the throat who was reportedly heckling his wife from the stands, says Xinhuanet.
  • Memi Becirovic, who coaches the Jiangsu Dragons, attacked the fan in the third quarter after an exchange of words on the side of the court.
  • The referee then ejected both Becirovic and the fan, who continued their spat as they left, and the Slovakian coach now faces a minimum one match ban, according to Xinhuanet.

A Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) coach was ejected from a game on Wednesday after being seen on video grabbing a fan by the throat who was reportedly heckling his wife from the stands.

Memi Becirovic, who coaches the Jiangsu Dragons, confronted the fan midway through the third quarter, after they were said to have made offensive gestures to one of the players, before subsequently becoming involved in an altercation with the Slovakian's partner, says Xinhuanet.

After engaging in a war of words, Becirovic then tried to grab the fan by the neck, causing him to fall backwards.

The 58-year-old was pulled away and restrained by players and staff.

After a video review, the referee ejected Becirovic and the fan, who continued their spat as they left the court, according to Xinhuanet.

Xinhuanet also claim Becirovic will face an automatic one match ban, however that could increase pending an investigation from the CBA.

The CBA did not immediately reply to Business Insider's request for comment.

Becirovic's Dragons lost 111-103 on the night to the Liaoning Flying Leopards, leaving them 13th in the CBA standings.
