When Chinese short video giant TikTok was banned in India in July, 2019, it brought overnight popularity to a lot of Indian rivals of the app. One amongst them was Chingari app, which got hundreds of thousands of downloads soon after. But the founders of Chingari aren’t done.On Tuesday, the founders announced a new app – an audio social media app, much like Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces. The app called fireside will offer a platform for users to hold conversations.
"The pandemic has imbued uncertainty and isolation, leaving people craving for human interaction. fireside enables users to listen to the voice of their loved ones by bridging emotional gaps, leaving them emotionally touched and connected. With a keen focus on building rich communities, fireside aims to cater to the Indian market with clubs and groups that are tailored to suit local needs and sensibilities,” said Sumit Ghosh, chief executive officer and co-founder of fireside.
