The India-China border dispute has led to an increase in anti-China sentiment in the country. The situation was further fuelled by calls to boycott China from people Sonam Wangchuk, the engineer turned education reformer on whom the popular Bollywood movie ‘3 Idiots’ was based.
Millions of Indians downloaded Remove China App from the Google Play store to identify all the Chinese apps and games installed on their phone. While it did identify some Chinese apps, it failed to recognize popular games like PUBG Mobile among others. Google removed the app subsequently for violating its policies.
