Vijayawada bus accident: At least 8 dead, 30 injured after bus falls into river

At least eight people were killed and 30 others injured after a bus plunged into an irrigation canal in Telangana.
The mishap took place near Nayakangudem village on theKhammam-Hyderabad highway when the private bus was going to Kakinada in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh from state capital Hyderabad.
While eight people died on the spot, those injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals where the condition of some are said to be serious.
Reportedly, quoting eye-witnesses, that the driver lost control of the speeding bus and hit the parapet wall of the bridge across the Nagarjunasagar Project before falling straight into the irrigation channel.
The bodies were retrieved from the water by local fishermen, while the bus has been pulled out by large police cranes..
A probe has been ordered into the incident.
