A statement issued by Najib Razak's office said the agreement with separatist leader Aleksander Borodai would "provide protection for international crash investigators" to recover human remains and ascertain the cause of the crash.
"I hope that this agreement with Mr Borodai will ensure security on the ground so the international investigators can conduct their work," Najib said in the statement.
This comes as European officials have come out publicly about new black box data. They are saying that MH17 was hit by a missile explosion, according to CBS News.
This data from the black box points to a "massive explosive decompression," with the plane's fuselage getting hit by shrapnel from the explosion.
The United States continues to blame pro-Russian separatists, and points another finger at Russia for supplying them with weapons. Russia, however, refuses to admit involvement.
