Talking of the Indian brands, the 2015 yearend 38% market share was sharply lower than the 44% that they had captured in late 2014.
Another reason why China's phones are a hit amongst buyers is the aggressive marketing strategy they adopt. Vivo, OPPO, Gionee and LeEco together accounted for 55% of the Indian smartphone advertising market that stands at Rs 1,200 crore, said ET sources.

Along with Samsung and Micromax being the top two largest brands India, the third share is jointly owned by Lenovo-Motorola. That's the first time a Chinese brand is in the top three.
