BS VI emission: Random cars from dealers to be sourced for testing from 2020

Come 2020, the automobile manufacturers would in no way be able to fudge emission norms. April of 2020 is the time when BS VI emission standards of cars would be implemented. As discussed earlier, India would skip BS V and skip to BS VI directly.After 2014, the emissions are checked by the government approved agencies in tie ups with manufacturers. But soon after introducing BS VI, the govt would test cars randomly by picking up from dealers. The transport ministry has said that 50% of test cars would be sourced directly from the dealers to check goof ups, a process known as conformity of production (COP).
Currently India doesn’t have any emission norm, which is why
"Now this share of getting samples from dealers has been doubled. So, the manufacturers cannot manipulate with the vehicles that are lifted randomly from dealers or warehouse," a government official told the ET.
