"The Morning Show" - Apple's flagship launch series for its new streaming platform, Apple TV Plus - has been lambasted by TV critics and has a 59% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.

That didn't stop legendary horror author Stephen King from loving the series, though.

King tweeted his praise for the show on Sunday, calling it "instantly involving" and "professionally made."

King said: "THE MORNING SHOW: Instantly involving, characters you care about, professionally made, acted with elan. What's not to like?"

Meanwhile, critics have called the show "brutally dull" and "underwhelming."

This isn't the first time King has praised something that critics didn't particularly care for. He said he was "riveted" by Netflix's "Bird Box," which has a 63% Rotten Tomatoes critic score, and slammed critics for suffering from what he called "Netflix Prejudice."

Apple TV Plus launched on Friday for $4.99 a month with four original shows. "See," a post-apocalyptic fantasy series, has an even worse 39% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. That's not the kind of reaction Apple was hoping for considering the high costs of the shows.

It's been widely reported by outlets like Bloomberg, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety that "The Morning Show" will cost $300 million for two seasons (and THR said "See" cost $240 million). However, "The Morning Show" producer and director Mimi Leder pushed back on those reports in an interview with Business Insider last week and called them "way overblown."

"I think [the budget is] very much in line with a lot of shows you see on high-end television, but it certainly was not as high as what's been reported," Leder said of "The Morning Show."

Regardless of the exact budget, the vote of confidence from King was music to the ears of those involved in the show, and drew thank-you tweets from the likes of actor Mark Duplass and producer Kerry Ehrin.
