Coronavirus outbreak: Government restricts travel, asks people above 65 and children below 10 to stay at home

As India recorded the fourth death in the country, and the number of cases shot up to 184, the government has issued a fresh advisory restricting travel.


According to the official statement, no scheduled international commercial passenger aircraft shall be allowed to land in India from March 22, 2020 for one week.

It also says that railways and civil aviation departments have been informed to stop all concessional travel within the country except for students, patients and specially abled people.

In order to stop the spread of the virus, people above 65 and children below the age group of 10 have been asked to stay at home.

While private office professionals have been advised to work from home, central government employees will be asked to attend offices on alternate weeks as well as with staggered timings for all employees. Over 2 million IT employees in India had already been directed to work from home.

Schools and colleges continue to remain shut in India until March 31.
