Some X users quipped "we live in a simulation" after Elon Musk spoke to a man who sounded eerily like him on a Spaces session hosted by an Elon Musk parody account.

The billionaire joined the Spaces session on X – formerly known as Twitter – on Friday. He spoke with the man for about eight minutes and afterwards tweeted "that was next-level." Musk later tweeted "how do we know this is a real person?".

His vocal doppelganger, Adrian Dittmann, said he was not using an AI tool and that was just how his voice sounded.

It all seemed to amuse the X owner, who burst out laughing when Dittmann spoke.

"I can't tell if I'm in a fever dream or if real life is a giant meme," another user said, with Musk replying "same."

Dittmann tweeted about it after the Space ended and said: "Speaking to elon is freaky. It's like talking to an alternate version of yourself that understands your humor better than anyone."

Other users who tweeted about the interaction said they've heard Dittmann speak in other Spaces and argued that he always sounded like Musk.

It's not the first time someone with some sort of resemblance to Musk has emerged. A Chinese man, who calls himself Yilong Ma, blew up online in 2020 after he shared a video in which he appears to look like an identical twin of the Tesla CEO.

Musk tweeted last year: "I'd like to meet this guy (if he is real). Hard to tell with deepfakes these days."
