Twitter is being kicked out of its office in Boulder, Colorado after not paying rent for months, according to a report by the Denver Business Journal.

The company moved into the office in February 2020 using a letter of credit worth nearly $1 million, drawing on this to cover rent until March, per TechCrunch.

After the landlord took Twitter to court last month, the judge issued an order on May 31 that the sheriff should help evict Elon Musk's company within 49 days, according to TechCrunch.

Twitter's Boulder office once had as many as 300 employees, per the outlet. According to The Denver Post, 87 staff were fired last year, before another 38 quit.

The company has already been taken to court by several other landlords, accused of not paying rent on its San Francisco headquarters, and its London office owned by King Charles.

According to one lawsuit filed by ex-Twitter employees last month, Musk said in one 4 a.m. conversation the company would only pay office rent "over his dead body."

The lawsuit added that Musk's attorney, Alex Spiro, "loudly opined" it was unreasonable for Twitter's landlords to expect it to pay rent because San Francisco was a "shithole."

It appears to be a tactic to help reduce costs at Twitter, with Musk slashing headcount by nearly 90% to save money, Insider previously reported.

Insider contacted Twitter for comment, but the the company no longer responds to requests from the media.
