A bunch of new details about the next Tesla just emerged
More details about Tesla's Model X Signature Series were revealed on Tuesday - including the price.
The new Signature Series SUV will set buyers back anywhere from $132,000 to $144,000 before tax credits and other incentives. The car will have a 90 kWh battery pack and a range of about 250 miles according to EPA ratings.
Like Tesla's other vehicles, speed will also be a primary feature. The SUV will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds and have a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
But for an extra $10,000, buyers can upgrade the car to get the "ludicrous mode" feature, which will take it from zero to 60 in just 3.2 seconds.
The SUV will come standard with Autopilot self-parking system, automatic lane steering, ventilated leather seats, and an Ultra High Fidelity Sound System with satellite radio.
On Tuesday, Tesla fans who paid $40,000 to reserve one of the first models of the Signature Series SUV began receiving their online customization options - which includes things like paint color, wheel size, and the ability to add extra features - and began posting screenshots of details to Tesla's Motor Club forum.
Also revealed via screenshots, the falcon wing rear doors will feature sensors in them so that they don't hit anything surrounding them when they open up.
The company is also bringing back white leather seats as an option for the high-end luxury SUV. These were previously only available in the Tesla Model S Signature edition.
With all the add-ons, the Signature edition sells for $143,750 before incentives and gas savings.
Tesla has said that it expects to begin delivering its first batch of cars at the end of the month, but some custom add-ons will require extra time to install.
For example, if a buyer decides to upgrade and get the Subzero Weather Package, which includes a heated steering wheel and wiper blade defrosters, it could delay delivery up to one month.
