Cannes Lions 2021: India sees a total of 22 shortlists in the Design, Outdoor, Print & Publishing, Health & Wellness and Media categories

FCB India leads with eight entries
  • Cannes Lions will announce the winners for categories Design, Print & Publishing, Outdoor and Health and Wellness on June 21.
  • India has 9 shortlists in The Media Lions category, which is the maximum number of shortlists in a single category so far.
  • There are five shortlists for India in the Health and Wellness category and four in Outdoor.
  • FCB India leads with eight entries.
Cannes Lions is finally upon us and we couldn’t be more excited, after all they are back after last year’s hiatus. A fresh batch of shortlists, for the Design, Outdoor, Print & Publishing, Health & Wellness, Pharma and Media, have been announced and India has received 22 shortlists, after failing to make a mark in the Innovation, Glass and Titanium Lions categories.

Design Lions

In the Design Lion category, India has received 2 shortlists, both for DDB Mudra’s ‘Eat Equal’ campaign for McDonald’s India. These shortlists are in the sub-categories Food and Special Editions & Promotional Packaging.


Outdoor Lions

In the Outdoors category, India saw 4 shortlists, 3 of which were for FCB Interface’s much-talked-about campaign, The Punishing Signal for the Mumbai Police, in the Ambient Outdoor, Single-market Campaign and Social Behaviour whereas Geometry Encompass got one shortlist for its ‘Hackwashing’ campaign for Hindustan Unilever (Lifebuoy) in the Social Behaviour category.



Print & Publishing Lions

In Print & Publishing Lions, FCB Ulka Delhi got 2 shortlists for its Out and Proud Classified campaign for The Times of India in the Media / Entertainment and Corporate Purpose & Social Responsibility categories.

There are five shortlists for India in the Health and Wellness category.

Media Lions

India has the maximum number of shortlists in The Media Lions category. India saw 9 shortlists, 2 of which were from Mondelez’s and Ogilvy’s #Notjustacadburyad in Use Of Real-time Data and Data-driven Targeting sub-categories. Dentsu Webchutney’s The 8-bit Journo for Vice Media and The World's Most Reported Trailer for Trigger Happy Entertainment also made it to the Media shortlist for Market Disruption and Use Of Social Platforms respectively. Mindshare’s Dove #Stopthebeautytest is also shortlisted in two sub-categories -- Use Of Integrated Media and Social Behaviour. Geometry Encompass’ Hackwashing is shortlisted for Breakthrough On A Budget and Social Behaviour.




Health and Wellness

There are five shortlists for India in the Health and Wellness category. FCB Interface’s The Punishing Signal is also shortlisted in the Non-profit / Foundation-led, Education & Awareness and Service sub-categories. The second campaign to be shortlisted in the category is again, Geometry Encompass and Lifebuoy's Hackwashing in OTC Applications. Lifebuoy’s H For Handwashing by Lowe Lintas also got shortlisted in Brand-led Education & Awareness.


There are no shortlisted campaigns in the Pharma category from India.
